Internet

Turtle Consulting has been actively involved in the Internet and e-Business sectors from its early stages - both the consultancy and PR divisions.
Some examples of our recent and current work in these sectors are:

XTML
From initial commission in July 1999, Turtle Consulting assisted XTML by developing its business plan for second stage funding, developling its highly sucessful Business-to-Business marketing strategy, devising and managing its agency selection process for advertising, direct marketing, telemarketing and PR, assisiting with joint venture set-up with PeopleSoft, Hewlett Packard and PriceWaterhouseCoopers and the launch of the world's first datacentre business interuption insurance product. (XTML is now Nextra part of the Norwegian state telecoms operator Telenor.) Case Study

MaNAP Internet Exchange
A mutual organisation jointly ownred by 22 Internet Service Providers which provides interconnection for them to each other. In 1999 MaNAP had been in existence for three years and had failed to grow significantly. Turtle Consulting was asked by its chairman to assist in putting together a plan to increase the membership and gain critical mass for the benefit of the nothern ISPs and for the resilience and reliability of the UK Internet itself.

Turtle Consulting has advised MaNAP since then. In this period, from a position of virtual insignificance as far as government, industry and the press were concerned, MaNAP is now fast approaching its goal of becoming the Second Hub for the UK Internet. Lobbying by us led to the Government asking MaNAP to take part in a review of UK Internet resilience, a marketing channel has been established, MaNAP is regularly covered in the press, membership churn has been replaced and major growth plans are progressing - despite it being a time of major downturn in the Internet market.

In November 2000, the ISP members asked our managing consultant Phil Turtle to join the board and council of their organisation.
